Biography: Harold Porter
Harold Porter was born on June 4, 1922 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. After studying psychology he served as surgical technologist assistant at the 116th Evacuation Hospital of the U.S. Army. This mobile surgical unit was responsible for the medical treatment of prisoners directly after the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp.

He described the conditions existing in the concentration camp in several letters to his parents. After the war Porter worked for the Federal Land Bank in Wichita, Kansas. He died there in June 1969 in an accident.
