Transports of Polish Prisoners into the Concentration Camp Systems in Dachau and Flossenbürg
First project meeting in the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum
The first meeting of all involved in the project was held in the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum from June 13 to 15. Krzysztof Antończyk, Agnieszka Kita, Ewa Bazan and Krystyna Lesniak attended for the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum. The Bavarian memorial sites were represented by Albert Knoll and Michael Störk (both from Dachau), as well as Johannes Ibel und Elisabeth Singer-Brehm (both from Flossenbürg).
Conference and publication
At the meeting, not only were questions of content and organization discussed, but also the final products of the project. For one thing, a conference on the topic of Polish prisoners in the two Bavarian concentration camps is to be held at the Flossenbürg Memorial Site from March 27 to 29, 2019. Building on this conference, a German-Polish publication is set to appear in 2020.
At the same time, the staff of the Bavarian concentration camp memorial sites took part on June 14 in a commemoration of the 78th year of the first prisoner transport to Auschwitz concentration camp.
