The Liberation of Dachau Concentration Camp

The final weeks before the liberation of Dachau concentration camp by US soldiers on April 29, 1945 were characterized by arriving and departing transports, rising death tolls and increasingly chaotic conditions.

The themed tour deals with the much-discussed question of the shootings of SS men by US soldiers, the organization of the liberated camp by the American troops and the International Prisoners’ Committee as well as the process of repatriating the liberated people and how they continued to live.

Registration     Registration is only possible at the day of the themed tour at the information desk in the Visitors’ Center of the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site until 1:45 pm.
