Donation of objects from the International Information Office to the Archive of the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site
| 9. October 2024
In August 2024, the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site received a donation from the USA. In addition to a violin with a case and several graphics from the International Information Office, an early prisoner self-administration, which were produced in 1946, the donation includes an earlier publication on Dachau concentration camp, the so-called “Dachau Album”.
The donor was received the objects by a former Dachau prisoner, Stanislaus Szczypinski. Szczypinski was a Polish clergyman. He was interned in the Sachsenhausen and Dachau concentration camps from 1940 to 1945. He emigrated to the USA in the early 1950s, where he died in 1978.
The history of the objects and how they came into Stanislaus Szczypinski’s possession is still unclear. As part of an ongoing research project at the International Information Office, the provenance of the objects is being researched in detail so that so that information on the history of the objects can be provided in the future.
The Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site thanks the donor!
