“Dachau Dialogs” is a film about the extraordinary, close friendship between Sister Elija Boßler from Karmel Heilig Blut Dachau and Jewish Dachau survivor Max Mannheimer. The film documents a dialog between these two so dissimilar people in October of 2015.
A discussion of the film will be held on the second anniversary of the death of Dr. h.c. Max Mannheimer (1920–2016) by the Dachau institutes and associations that had ties to the contemporary witness, President of the Lagergemeinschaft (Camp Community) and Vice President of the Comité International de Dachau, Max Mannheimer.
Sister Elija and director Michael Bernstein will be on hand to answer questions from the audience after the screening. The discussion will also consider how to keep alive the memory of this great philanthropist and bridge builder.
Max Mannheimer (1920-2016) survived the camps at Theresienstadt, Auschwitz, Warsaw, Dachau, Karlsfeld and Mühldorf before he was liberated in 1945. For decades, he spoke about what he had had to endure back then, campaigned for an appropriate manner of remembrance and simultaneously acted as a conciliator. He was honored many times over for his dedication.
