Biography: Dixie Foster
Dixie Foster was born on September 6, 1912 in Cedar City, Utah. After completing school she attended an agricultural college. In 1940 she began working as a court reporter for the Utah Public Service Commission in Salt Lake City.
In 1947 Foster was civilian court reporter for the Dachau Trials. Between April and September 1947 she reported on five trials. She died on April 4, 1998 in Utah.
The contact details of two US Army officers are written on the banknote shown in the special exhibition. This is a “short snorter”, a note on which people travelling together immortalised themselves in memory. This was a widespread practice of US soldiers during the Second World War.
